MEETING OF THE DIRECTOR OF THE AGENCY AND THE AMBASSADOR OF THE KINGDOM OF THE NETHERLANDS TO THE REPUBLIC OF SERBIA

19.02.2026.

The Director of the Agency, Dejan Damnjanović, met today with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the Republic of Serbia, Martijn Elgersma, with whom he discussed the importance of partnership and cooperation in the field of corruption prevention, with a shared commitment to strengthening institutional integrity, transparency, and efficiency of anti-corruption policies. The Agency's activities in the previous period were presented, such as the opening of regional units, improving cooperation with other state bodies and international partners, commitment to fulfilling ODIHR and GRECO recommendations, and developing anti-corruption awareness among primary and secondary school students. Special attention was paid to the Agency's priorities in the coming period, such as the new unified information system of the Agency, strengthening analytical capacities, further development of the Catalogue of Public Functions, as well as additional improvement of preventive mechanisms.
Particular attention was paid to the challenges that the institution faces in the process of strengthening public trust and the effective implementation of the anti-corruption framework, as well as the Corruption Perception Index.

On this occasion, Director Damnjanović emphasized the fact that the Agency has a primarily preventive role, which must be especially borne in mind when considering this topic. In this regard, he emphasized:

"Results cannot be seen immediately because the fight against corruption is a process that requires time, continuity, and systematicity. Like other institutions in the country that deal with the fight against corruption, we are aware of the importance of the Corruption Perceptions Index and we seriously understand its impact on the overall reputation of the country. But for us, measurable results are crucial, especially those related to the fulfillment of the recommendations of GRECO and ODIHR, because they apply equally to all states, which confirms that the essence of the fight against corruption lies in the results, and not only in the impression. By fulfilling the specific recommendations of GRECO and ODIHR, including amendments to the laws in the field of preventing corruption, lobbying, and financing political activities proposed by the Agency, I expect that in the coming period, the position of the Republic of Serbia on the Corruption Perceptions Index scale will improve."
