97. PLENARY MEETING OF THE GROUP OF STATES AGAINST CORRUPTION

The delegation of the Republic of Serbia is attending the Plenary Meeting of the Group of States Against Corruption of the Council of Europe (GRECO) in Strasbourg, from June 17–21. 2024. The First Compliance Report of the Republic of Serbia within the Fifth Evaluation Round was discussed and adopted at the meeting. This round of evaluation refers to the prevention of corruption and promotion of integrity in central government bodies (top executive functions) and law enforcement bodies.

CONTARACTS WITH CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANIZATIONS

Director Dejan Damnjanović signed Contracts on the implementation of projects in the field of corruption prevention for the year 2024 with representatives of civil society organizations, selected in a public competition conducted by the Agency. The general goal of the competition is to raise the level of education of young people to prevent corruption. Civil organizations, winners of dedicated financial resources are: Bečej Youth Association - BUM - Bečej, for the project Program for acquiring and improving the competences of socially responsible young people "Clean up corruption"; Podrinje anti-corruption team - PAKT - Loznica, for the project "Less corruption - richer society"; Center for Education and Development MAGENTA - Kladovo, for the project "Prevention of corruption through empowerment and networking of young people at the regional level" and Užice Center for Human Rights and Democracy Association- Užice, for the project "Fighting corruption in the focus of youth".

The Council of Europe Support to State Authorities of the Republic of Serbia in the Fight Against Money Laundering, Corruption, and Organized Crime

On the occasion of the completion of the four-year project "Preventing Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing in Serbia" and the launch of a new phase of the Council of Europe's support to the Republic of Serbia through the "Countering Economic Crime in Serbia" project, which is financed by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, Director Dejan Damnjanović thanked the Council of Europe Office in Belgrade and the Administration for the Prevention of Money Laundering for their continuous and wholehearted cooperation with the Agency.

PARTICIPATION OF THE AGENCY DIRECTOR AT THE ASSOCIATION OF LAWYERS IN ECONOMY CONFERENCE

Director of the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption, Dejan Damnjanović, participates at the conference "Business Law and Sustainable Business Challenges," organized by the Association of Lawyers in Economy, that is held in Zlatibor from May 26 to 29. On this occasion, he delivered one of the introductory presentations, titled "Legal Obligations of Public Officials with Regard to the Prevention of Corruption in the Economy."

ANALYSIS OF THE LAW ON LOBBYING AND RECOMMENDATIONS FOR IMPROVEMENT

The round table “Analysis of the Law on Lobbying and Recommendations for Improvement” was held today in hotel Moscow, within the Project "Countering Economic Crime in Serbia", funded by Sweden represented by Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency and implemented by the Council of Europe. The aim of the event was to present the key findings of the analysis of the Law on Lobbying as well as to facilitate discussion on the necessary changes aimed at harmonization with GRECO recommendations, as well as to remove existing obstacles for the effective implementation of the law.

VISIT OF THE AMBASSADOR OF THE EU to the REGIONAL UNIT IN KRAGUJEVAC

Director Dejan Damnjanović received the ambassador of the European Union in Serbia, H.E. Emanuele Giaufret, Ambassador of Italy, Luca Gori, and Ambassador of Slovakia, Michal Pavúk,who, as part of their official visit to Kragujevac, were guests of the Regional Unit of the Agency. On that occasion, the director especially emphasized the importance of the recently opened offices in Kragujevac, Niš and Novi Sad, which provided the possibility of even stronger enforcement of APCs competences, but also more immediate approach and communication with public officials, citizens, civil society and local media.

OPENING OF THE REGIONAL UNIT IN NOVI SAD

In Novi Sad, in the building of the Apollo Business Center, the Regional Unit of the Agency was officially opened, which, after Kragujevac and Niš, is the third unit outside the headquarters in Belgrade. With this event, within the planned period, the work on one of the special goals, adopted within the Agency's Work Program, was finalized.

PUBLIC-PRIVATE PARTNERHIP TRAINING

Within the Project “Facility Supporting Strengthening Rule of Law in the Republic of Serbia“ (EU for Fight Against Corruption and for Fundamental Rights), jointly financed by the EU, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and the Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC), implemented by GIZ, ADA, CPMA and OSCE Mission to Serbia, on April 8 and 9, third out of five planned trainings for the Agency for Prevention of Corruption representatives was held, on the topic “Public-Private Partnership”. Training was organized by the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA). Besides representatives of the Agency, representatives of the Public Procurement Office also participated in the training.
