The Director of the Agency Dejan Damnjanović, met today with the Director of the Regional Anti-Corruption Initiative (RAI), Albert Hani, to discuss the enhancement of regional cooperation and upcoming activities in the areas of rule of law, institutional integrity, and corruption prevention in Southeast Europe.

Director Damnjanović underlined that regional collaboration plays a significant role in further strengthening the capacities of institutions engaged in corruption prevention, particularly through the exchange of experience, professional knowledge, and examples of good practice. He reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to active participation in regional initiatives and cooperation mechanisms.

“Strengthening institutional capacities through regional cooperation is of strategic importance for advancing corruption prevention policies and fostering public trust in institutions. The Agency remains fully committed to contributing actively to regional initiatives aimed at promoting integrity, accountability, and the rule of law,” stated Damnjanović.

During the meeting, RAI Director Albert Hani emphasized the importance of sustained regional cooperation in addressing increasingly complex challenges related to integrity, transparency, and good governance across the region.

“Regional cooperation remains essential for effectively responding to evolving corruption risks and strengthening institutional resilience. Through joint initiatives, exchange of expertise, and coordinated regional efforts, we can further reinforce integrity systems and contribute to more accountable governance throughout Southeast Europe,” said Hani.

The interlocutors also discussed forthcoming RAI activities, including a planned regional conference focusing on corruption risk assessment, corruption risk assessment in legislation, and support in the field of lobbying regulation, where RAI would serve as a platform for the exchange of regional experiences and best practices.

In addition, discussions addressed activities related to the implementation of the Law on the Ratification of the International Agreement on Data Exchange for the Verification of Asset Declarations. In this context, and upon the proposal of Director Damnjanović, a dedicated meeting aimed at exchanging experiences and good practices will also be organized.

The interlocutors briefly acknowledged the importance of broader regional frameworks, including the upcoming Berlin Process Side Event scheduled for October this year in Tirana, as a key platform for reinforcing cooperation and advancing good governance and anti-corruption efforts in Southeast Europe.

The meeting concluded with both sides expressing readiness to continue and further strengthen direct cooperation based on mutual support and partnership. RAI reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Agency in its future activities, while the Agency expressed its readiness to contribute its expertise and experience to RAI initiatives, thereby further strengthening interinstitutional regional cooperation.
