MEETING WITH THE DELEGATION OF THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION OF THE REPUBLIC OF ITALY

At the invitation of the Ambassador of the Republic of Italy, H.E. Luca Gori, the Director of the Agency, Dejan Damnjanović, and his associates met with the delegation of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, led by the Minister Plenipotentiary, Raffaele Langella, Coordinator for Multilateral Affairs of Legal Diplomacy. Other members of the different Italian administrations involved were also in attendance.

A key topic of discussion was the Falcone-Borsellino Program, an initiative dedicated to combating corruption and transnational organized crime. The program would include courses, training for judges, prosecutors and police forces, in-depth thematic conferences, initiatives for coordination and cooperation in the judiciary, proposals for institutional strengthening and modernization of regulatory frameworks, as well as the creation of platforms for the exchange of data and information. This program will be organized within the Central European Initiative (CEI) framework, whose presidency Serbia assumed this year.

Director Damnjanović expressed appreciation for the Italian Government’s past assistance and support in strengthening good governance and mechanisms for preventing corruption in Serbia. The meeting focused on exploring opportunities for continued cooperation with the Agency to develop new mechanisms to combat this global issue.
