The third in a series of meetings with the presidents of municipalities from the districts where the Agency has its regional units - Kragujevac, Niš, and Novi Sad - was held at the premises of the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption in Novi Sad. During the meeting, Director Dejan Damnjanović met with the mayor of Sombor and the presidents of 11 municipalities of the West and South Bačka districts: Apatin, Odžaci, Bač, Bečej, Vrbas, Titel, Žabalj, Temerin, Srbobran, Bačka Palanka, and Bački Petrovac.
The meeting focused on providing a closer explanation of the Agency's competences, specifically regarding the declaration of assets and income, conflicts of interest, the new cycle of preparing integrity plans, training on ethics and integrity, and the procedures conducted by the Agency. An important aspect of this meeting was the opportunity for representatives of local communities from these two districts to exchange experiences, with an emphasis on presenting examples from everyday practice.
"The fight against corruption cannot be successful without proper coordination and cooperation with all relevant actors. The work of the Agency is based exclusively on the law, clear procedures, and the competencies of the Agency's employees. We fulfill our legal obligations with dedication, treat all officials and political parties equally, and approach every case strictly professionally," said Director Damnjanović.
In the coming period, the Agency will continue to organize such meetings in its regional units and invite representatives of other municipalities, cities, state bodies, and civil society organizations to participate.
